Mia Englund has been selected to represent Idaho and St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital as the 2018 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion.
Each year St. Luke’s selects one patient to represent St. Luke's Children’s and Idaho as the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) Champion. St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is Idaho’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
In her role as champion, Mia will visit local CMN Hospitals partners, share her story, attend events and help to increase awareness about the amazing work being done at St. Luke's Children’s and in children’s hospitals across the country.
Mia, who celebrates her 7th birthday on Feb. 9, was born with Heterotaxy Syndrome, a very rare birth defect that involves the heart and other organs. More than 85 percent of children with Heterotaxy Syndrome don’t make it to their first birthdays, and the statistics grow increasingly worse the closer children get to age 5.
Mia was introduced at the Luke Award presentation ceremony in January. She was a shining example of perseverance as she bounced up to the stage to present each of the honorees with their awards. As her mother, Jenna, says: “They don’t call her Mighty Mia for nothing.”

How do you define health? Physical? Mental? Social? Health goes beyond medical care. It's how we take care of ourselves, how we interact with our communities, how we take care of each other.
Let St. Luke's support your health, however you define it.
